Chain Reaction

I love making connections and having my snappy thoughts hop from one idea to another.

Yet sometimes it's not the greatest concept when your brain makes connections to things you really just don't want to remember.

Memories pop up whether they're light and happy, emotionless and plain or ugly and needing repression. They just find their way in any way they can.

Your brain struggles to make connections at all times.

Snap, snap, snap. From this to this to that.

For instance, an ad for a movie can spark a memory of that time you stood in front of that movie theater explaining the movie and how your heart took a running leap because of what happened in the brief second you let your guard down.

Or maybe you hear that song repeatedly that always reminds you of someone. You feel like the singer wrote those words just for you to sing to that person to have them understand. Except you typed out those words in lieu of singing them.

Sometimes your brain is in theme-mode. If you keep thinking about something or someone, everything suddenly relates. My brain sucks in anything it can to connect my thoughts to my current predicaments or feelings. My dreams seem to take that same path too, throwing in everything I'm thinking about and making it into a hazy, connected storyline.

The silliest thing can spark a connection in me sometimes. I wonder how my brain even picks up on those slight details. But it always seems to do so.

I love my brain's snappy connecting tendencies.

Sometimes.
